Traveling When Your Child Has Outgrown Their Pack n Play

Traveling sleep tends to go much better if there is a solid foundation for sleep at home before the trip AND if you travel with a PLAN!

If your baby is still in a crib at home but has outgrown their pack and play, you still have many options!

How do you travel without pack n play?

  • Call the hotel to see if they have a crib for the room

  • If they do not have a crib or you are not staying at a hotel, you can rent a crib and have it delivered to your location. Crib Connection and BabyQuip are great companies that you can rent baby equipment and accessories from!

When we travel to Florida, we often rent from Crib Connection. We have rented a crib, high chair, beach wagon and even TOYS! They will also set it up before your stay!

If you do not want to rent a crib, you can bring your own pack and play. Two options for pack and plays that are bigger in size than regular ones are:

PRO TIP: you can check the pack and play for FREE at the ticket counter at the airport.  It will be transported in the cargo hold of the plane and you can get it with your checked bags at baggage claim!

What do toddlers sleep in after pack n play?

Another option is a bed on the floor with a slumber pod over it! There are several blow up options that you can travel with that fit with the Slumberpod. This FAQ from Slumberpod lists compatible products.

As someone who travels frequently with my family, I have done ALL of these options and they have all worked well! Our latest trip, Aiden was 39 months old (3 years and 3 months) and we brought our JOOVY 2 pack and play.  Our next vacation, Aiden will be 3 years and 7 months and I think a toddler bed with the slumber pod over it will work out best!

If things are feeling shaky before your trip, schedule a sleep troubleshooting call to make sure you are all well rested and have a game plan for your adventure!
